VERMONT
AMERICAN/BOSCH UNION NEWSLETTER
Vol.7 No.9 December, 2004 We
are organizing the Carolina Auto, Aerospace & Machine workers Union
(CAAMWU). We are a union for fairness and justice for all workers. Workers have
the right to distribute and read this newsletter in the cafeteria, break-rooms
and parking lots during lunch and break times; before and after work. Section 7
of the National Labor Relations Act, a Federal law, also gives Vermont American
/Bosch workers the right to organize and join a union. CAAMWU represents the
private sector division of UE 150; a state wide union which represents thousands
of workers in North Carolina in the public sector. And as part of UE 150, CAAMWU
members are also part of the national United Electrical, Radio & Machine
Workers Union of America (UE), a rank and file members ran union representing
tens of thousands of workers in 26 states across the country. We encourage all
workers at Bosch to find out more about our union by visiting the UE 150 website
at organize@ue150.org, www.ranknfile.org
and www.caamwu.

THE AGREEMENT CAMPAIGN. The Union here at Bosch kicked off the Honor the Agreement Campaign in September of this year. We have completed several steps to the campaign. To recap these steps; 1.Education of key union workers on the Agreement through our National Union Organization U.E. 2.Annoucement of the implication of this Agreement to all workers through our Monthly newsletter. 3.The Union began breaking down each section of the Agreement before our Thanksgiving break. 4.Giving example of violations as they pertain to our working conditions. The Union position is that we want all workers here at the Greeneville Division to be treated just like our Brothers and Sisters in other divisions that is included in the Bosch Family whether we work in America or Europe. Because workers are mistreated and underpaid for our contribution to the Bosch profits each month and year. We are continuing on with our campaign to educate workers and get past our fear of loosing our jobs if we get involved in the union campaign. Through this Agreement we the Union have the RIGHT TO BARGIAN COLLECTIVELY AROUND OUR WAGES, HEALTH CARE, VAC, LAY-OFFS AND PLANT CLOSINGS. The petition that we mentioned in the last newsletter is now being signed and circulated through the plant. Any worker here that works on the floor should want to sign this petition. Reasoning being whether we agree with the Union or not, if we have not even signed a Union card or not we all know that something is very wrong in this division. No one worker can make changes by themselves at this Division we need an organization to make the kind of changes we need made. Every worker here now realizes that this corrupted management here is jeopardizing all of our jobs. Think of all the injustice that has occurred just in the last two months alone that has affected mostly African Americans. We know that some injustice has occurred against White workers as well but a larger degree it is the Black worker that gets mistreated the most this a fact backed by the United States Bureau of Labor Static. The Union wants to get rid of the racist management we have here that has caused so much oppression and hardship on all of us workers and our families. The average white thinks that racism doesn’t affect him or her but it does. We have both long-term Black and White workers here. Why weren’t anyone of these workers offered the new maintenance position? |
